How To Steal The Exploding Demand

Let’s get into it:

  • This week’s new trend: Magnesium Glycinate

  • How to ride the trend yourself

  • The full breakdown of how to grow a magnesium glycinate brand for free

Trend: Magnesium Glycinate

All forms of magnesium supplements have been growing steadily over the past 5 years, largely in part due to the biohacker movement that’s been sweeping the internet.

Magnesium plays a very important role in too many bodily functions to list, but the important one here is sleep. More specifically, magnesium glycinate is the best form of magnesium for improving sleep.

Which leads us to a larger trend. People suck at sleeping now. Yes, that’s a real trend.

There are a million reasons for this - lack of exercise, diet, blue light all the way until it’s time to sleep, bright lights consumed late into the night… you name it.

But people always want the quick fix, and as more research comes out, more evidence shows that the leading sleep supplement, Melatonin, is actually not a great option health-wise.

Research has shown that 50% of adults in the US are magnesium deficient - no bueno.

Enter magnesium glycinate.

Now, here’s the backstory on the competition:

There are many, but don’t fret - Most companies selling magnesium glycinate are old, outdated brands that don’t really specialize in much. Like Nature Made for example.

Unsexy branding in a market that’s begging for it.

Most vendors offer the product in compressed pill form, and if you know anything about the supplement industry, that’s not great. Compressed pills offer low bioavailability, meaning our body ends up pissing out a good portion of the magnesium instead of using it.

The ideal form would be a powder. Like Calm.

But again, Calm lacks the DTC branding that could dominate the space, being a mainly Amazon-driven brand.

There’s a huge market gap here, read below for the key to disrupting the space.

Business Idea: LunarSleep

Problem: The biggest problem is the brands that sell magnesium glycinate don’t do a great job of branding. They have no common store theme and lack specificity. People are becoming more educated on sleep and the importance of magnesium, but there are no quality branded stores to fill the market.

Solution: LunarSleep will take inspiration from Spacegoods and SweetDreams. Having genuinely amazing branding and putting a large focus on DTC. Start with one SKU and a quality flavor to ensure repeat purchases.

Customer Acquisition: SweetDreams blew up on TikTok by creating multiple brand accounts and having creators run 1 or multiple accounts. They focused on virality. LunarSleep should take the same approach but sprinkled in with educational content. Due to the superior product and product form, educating the consumers (who don’t already know) on why magnesium glycinate is the best sleep product will help covert views and follows to purchases.

This strategy is for idea validation. Once it’s validated, expand to additional channels like paid ads etc.

PRO TIP: Study UGC content and how to create a mini funnel within the content itself. Don’t solely create “viral” content. Spend time learning about UGC content that is built to convert and educate the audience. Teach them WHY magnesium glycinate is the best and scale out your affiliate program.

VERY IMPORTANT: Use TikTok shop heavily. You’ll get 100% commission based UGC that only get paid when they convert buyers.
